Managing Your Team
The Team section lets MSP admins invite colleagues, assign roles, and control who can access your xClause workspace.
Who can access Team settings
Only MSP Admin and Lawyer Admin users can manage team members. The /team page does not appear in the navigation for MSP User accounts — they have no access to team management.
Roles
MSP accounts
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| MSP Admin | Full access: manage clients, contracts, templates, team members, billing, and all settings. |
| MSP User | Operational access: manage clients and contracts, view invoices, use Daemon AI. Cannot add or remove team members, cannot access billing or company settings. |
Law firm accounts
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Lawyer Admin | Full access: manage the shared template library, member MSPs, team members, and billing. |
| Lawyer User | Read access: view the shared library and member MSPs. Cannot manage team or billing. |
Plan limits for team members
The number of team members your workspace can have depends on your plan:
| Plan | Team member limit |
|---|---|
| Starter ($99.99/mo) | 2 |
| Pro ($199/mo) | Unlimited |
| White-Label ($248/mo) | Unlimited |
When you reach your plan's limit, the invite API returns an error and an upgrade prompt. To add more members, upgrade your plan under Settings → Plan & Billing.
Adding a team member
Only MSP Admin (or Lawyer Admin) users can complete these steps.
- In the sidebar, open the Team section and click Members.
- Click Add Team Member.
- Enter the new member's name and email address.
- Select their role: MSP Admin or MSP User (for MSP accounts), or Lawyer Admin / Lawyer User (for law firm accounts).
- Click Send Invite.
The new member receives an email containing a personal invite link. The link expires after 24 hours. There is no temporary password — the invitee sets their own password when they accept the invite through that link.
If the email never arrives, check the address for typos. Each email address must be unique across all xClause accounts.
Managing existing members
From the Members list you can:
- Edit a member's name or role
- Remove a member from your workspace
- View their last-active status
Troubleshooting
Invite link expired — The link is valid for 24 hours. Remove the pending member and re-invite them to generate a fresh link.
"Team member limit reached" error — Your current plan has reached its maximum. Upgrade to Pro or White-Label to add more members (Settings → Plan & Billing).
New member can't find the Team section — MSP User accounts do not have access to Team management pages. This is by design.
Duplicate email error — The email address is already registered in xClause (even if on a different account). Each member needs a unique email address.
