Contract Templates

xClause organizes templates into two distinct areas:

• Your templates (/contracts/templates) — templates you create and own for your MSP.
• MSP templates (/contracts/msp-templates) — your customized versions of platform baselines, with your own clause selections and form field overrides applied on top.

What you can create

• MSA (Master Service Agreement): your master client agreement. Versionable and reusable.
• SOW (Statement of Work): deliverables, managed units, and payment terms. Link a SOW to a signed MSA or run it standalone.
• Document warehouse documents: policies, checklists, and other non-contract documents built in the block editor with merge fields.

Your templates (/contracts/templates)

The Templates page lists every template where you are the author. From here you can:

1. Click New template to create a template from scratch.
2. Select a template to view, edit, or use it as the basis for a contract.

When creating a template, you can attach clauses from the clause library. The clause library applies to MSA and standard contract templates — not to SOW templates, which use their own section structure.

MSP templates (/contracts/msp-templates)

MSP templates are your layered customizations of platform-provided baselines. Each MSP template stores:

• A reference to the underlying platform baseline template
• Your selected clauses (shown as a count in the list)
• Custom form field overrides
• The creator and last-updated date

SOW-type platform baselines are excluded from this list automatically — MSP templates apply to MSA/standard contract types only.

Creating an MSP template

1. Go to Contracts > MSP templates.
2. Click New MSP template and select a platform baseline to start from.
3. Choose the clauses to include and configure any form field defaults.
4. Save. The customized template is now available when creating contracts.

Platform baselines and visibility

Platform baseline templates are maintained by xClause. Your ability to see a given platform baseline depends on how xClause has configured its visibility — this is not something MSP users can change themselves. The three visibility modes are:
