The cheapest contract tool
for a small MSP team

XClause, Papersign, ContractSafe and PandaDoc: what each one costs a small MSP and what that price buys, from each vendor's own pricing page.

XClause is contract lifecycle software built for small MSP teams across the United States, starting at $99.99/mo with a 7-day free trial. This page lines up that price, and the renewal, e-signature and SOW features it includes, against Papersign, ContractSafe and PandaDoc, so you can see what you get at each price point.

Key takeaways

  • XClause Starter is $99.99/mo for the whole MSP, up to 2 team members and 15 clients. Pro is $199/mo with no team or client cap, and Pro + White-Label is $248/mo. Nothing is billed per client or per document.
  • Renewal reminders at any mix of 90, 60, 30, 15 and 7 days, sent to your team, the client or both, come with every plan, Starter included.
  • If all you need is a signature on a PDF, a per-seat e-signature tool costs less for a team of two. XClause costs more because the SOW builder, renewals, invoicing and client portal are in the same price.

What does each contract tool cost a small MSP team?

Per-seat tools cost less for one or two people. A flat price per company costs less as the team grows, and the comparison only holds if the tools do the same job.

What's the cheapest contract tool for small MSP teams?

It depends on what the tool has to do. For a signature alone, Papersign or PandaDoc Starter costs about $40 a month for two people. For the whole client agreement (MSA and SOW drafted from MSP templates, signed, reminded before renewal and turned into an invoice), XClause Starter is $99.99 a month for the company, and that one price covers it.

Starter is the plan for MSPs with up to 2 people on the account and up to 15 clients. Every line on it is on the pricing page.

What are the top alternatives for small MSP teams?

Papersign, PandaDoc and ContractSafe are the three small MSP teams weigh most often, and each answers a different job: Papersign and PandaDoc get documents signed, and ContractSafe stores contracts and reminds you of their dates.

XClause is built around the agreements an MSP sells. A guided SOW builder prices managed units and adds up the monthly total, and a signed SOW becomes an invoice from its own line items, so nobody retypes the numbers. The Daemon, an AI agent that drafts SOWs and MSAs from a chat message, comes with 150 agent turns a month on Starter and 500 on Pro. Setup is self-serve, with no demo required.

PandaDoc is compared line by line on the XClause vs PandaDoc page.

What's the cheapest contract tool for MSPs with renewals?

XClause, if the renewals are your client agreements: reminders are in every plan, from $99.99 a month. On each agreement you choose any mix of 90, 60, 30, 15 and 7 days before it renews, and whether the reminder goes to your team, the client or both. There is no renewal add-on.

What a missed renewal costs, and how the reminders work, is on the renewal tracking cost page.

Does XClause pricing scale down for MSPs with fewer than 10 employees?

Yes, in two steps. Starter, at $99.99 a month, fits an MSP with one or two people on the account and up to 15 clients. A team of three to ten moves to Pro at $199 a month (or $1,910 a year), which has no cap on team members or clients.

Because the price is per company, not per seat, adding your fifth or tenth person costs nothing. At five people, a $49 per seat plan is $245 a month; XClause Pro is still $199.

What security certifications does XClause hold for contract data?

Sensitive data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Card payments run through Stripe, which holds PCI DSS Level 1 certification, and ACH follows NACHA rules (self-assessed). XClause is GDPR and CCPA compliant by self-assessment.

XClause is not SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified. It follows controls aligned with SOC 2, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls and ISO 27001, and ISO 27001 certification is on the roadmap. The status of each is on the certifications page.
